The meeting was conducted as a combined meeting with Indonesian Shoulder Elbow Society (INASES).
This meeting was the first offline meeting for both INASES and INAFAS ever, as two of the youngest ortopaedic societies in Indonesia. It was also a tribute to the late great Professor Hermawan Nagar Rasyid, our beloved teacher and senior colleague, who initiated the meeting back in 2020. The chairmen for this combined meeting were Dr. Andri Primadhi and Dr. Renaldi Prasetia Hermawan Nagar Rasyid.
The meeting was held in Bandung, on August 3rd-5th, 2023 and consisted of a one day cadaveric workshop of shoulder, and foot and ankle surgery at Gedung Pamitran, Universitas Padjajaran Medical School. It was then followed by a full two day scientific symposium at Holiday Day Inn Hotel, Bandung. It was indeed a historical week for both organizations, as it was a long overdue event that was postponed because of the Covid-19 pandemic. This inaugural meeting was a huge success, with around 300 symposium participants from Indonesia and neighbouring countries. Even the registration of the cadaveric workshops had to be closed months before the event due to the high amount of participation.
The meeting was opened by Prof. Dr. Ismail Hadisoebroto Dilogo, the President of Indonesian Orthopaedics Association (IOA). We invited foreign notable foot and ankle expert, Dr. Arvind Puri from Australia, who also served as Chairman of APOA Foot and Ankle Section, and Dr. Emiliano Tablante from The Philippines, who is the big name in Asian Foot and Ankle Society, and have supported INAFAS for a long time.
